Most of these posting will have a distinctive character that comes from my own personality. No excuses for my brand of humor either – Allah also made me funny, but perhaps in a peculiar way! subhan’allah.

About Imam Salim

Many years ago Imam Salim Chishti was appointed as the resident Imam at the Abode of the Message by Pir Zia Inayat Khan (Sarafil Bawa) where he lived at that time. Imam Salim was born in New York City and early in his life entered a spiritual journey that has led him to find his heart’s home in Sufism and Islam. He has been an initiate in the Inayati Order (formerly the Sufi Order International) since 1983, originally initiated by Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan. He is a student of Pir Zia Inayat Khan and Imam Bilal Hyde.

Imam Salim is also a Khalifa in the Chishti-Kaleemi lineage through the late Pir Rasheed-ul-Hassan Jili-ul-Kaleemi (ra) and received Ijazaat (certification) from him to perform and teach healing techniques of that lineage.

Imam Salim has studied Sharia, Tariqa, Ma’rifa and Chishti spiritual healing
with several leading scholars. He speaks frequently at Sufi, Islamic and
interfaith conferences and is regularly asked to represent Islam and Sufism
in interfaith religious services.

Salim was the Imam of the Islamic Society of the Berkshires for five years
and has also led the Jummah prayers at the Abode of the Message and the
Empire State Plaza in Albany. Currently he is doing research on Islamic
dream interpretation and spiritual healing practices in the Chishti lineage.

Imam Salim is available for conferences, panel discussions, interfaith services
and workshops. He is also available to lead retreats and seminars on:

• Chishti Healing Practices (along with Tara Chishti who is an
  experienced Doctor of Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture)
