Noor-un-nisa Inayat Khan was the first child of Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan and his American wife, Amina Begum (nee Ora Ray Baker). With the genetic heritage of Eastern and Western Mystics, Noor was a child of destiny. She deeply affected the hearts of all those she encountered, from her childhood meeting with her father’s disciples, to the Nazi interrogators who destroyed her body, but could not break her spirit.

1 Dhul Hijjah 1445 – Making The Most of These Blessed Days

The first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah is the time those who have been blessed to appear in Mecca for this year’s Hajj have arrived and started their practices at that holy site. Their eyes have beheld the holy Kaaba and the millions of brothers and sisters joining them there in this sacred rite.

Even as they arrive and celebrate in Mecca we, the rest of this beautiful Ummah, can join them in our minds, our hearts and our deeds. Following the Sunnah of the Prophet (saw) these help us join our hearts with Allah (swt) and support the Hajjis in their pilgrimage.

Laylatul Qadr Ramadan 1445

Are we looking for laylat al Qadr in these last ten days? Tradition says that we should look for it on the odd nights during the last ten days.

Remember that a wife of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) asked him what prayers she should say on Laylat al-Qadr (Night of Power) if she knew which night it was. The Prophet told her to say: “O God, Thou art forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me.”
