May Allah (swt) accept the hajj of all those who were able to go this year, insha’allah!
Fasting on this day is recommended as well as repeating the du’a as many times as you can. Set your intention.

‘Amr ibn Al-‘Aas narrates, “When Islam entered my heart, I went to the Messenger of Allah and said, ‘Give me your hand so that I may pledge allegiance to you.’ The Prophet (SAW) spread his hand, but I withdrew mine. He said, ‘What is wrong ‘Amr?’ I said, ‘I want to make a condition.’ ‘And what is that?’ he said. I said, ‘That Allah will forgive me.’ Then the Messenger of Allah said, ‘Did you not know that Islam wipes out what came before it, and that Hijrah wipes out what came before it and that Hajj wipes out what came before it!” – Sahih Muslim

At this time of the year many of us are thinking about what we have, our prosperity, wealth and possessions and we think about those around us who are needy and how we can help. Giving of our wealth in Islam is called Zakat and it is one of the fundamental pillars of Islam. This is a basic requirement for all Muslims. At a very deep level it is also part of the purification of our very lives. It opens our heart for love and healing for ourselves our family, the world and our fellow human beings.
