Hazrat Sayed Badiuddin Zinda Shah Madar is a prominent sufi saint whose tomb is situated in Makanpur, near Kanpur city in the State of Uttar Pradesh in India. The annual Urs Mubarak is celebrated with great charm and the pilgrims crowd over from various parts of the country as well as foreigners attend the function with faith. The people are blessed with the prayers of the sufi saint whom, it is said, lived for 596 years. He is also known as Qutub-ul-Madar.

At a busy subway station in central Tehran, an excerpt from an iconic Persian poem from 13th century poet and mystic Jalaluddin al-Rumi greets travelers as they hop on and off, bringing smiles to weary faces.

“Peace, unity, and equality…when we are in one place, when we live in one place, eat in one place, sleep in one place, disappear in one place, die in one place, when our final judgment is given in one place, and when we finally join together in heaven in one place, that is unity. Even when we go to that (final) place, we all live together in freedom as one family, one group. In this world and in the next world we live together in freedom, as one family of peace. This is Islam. If we find this way of peace, this is Islam.”

Hamid Uddin Nagori (ra) was one of the principle disciples of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti (ra). He was sent to Nagore in Rajasthan to spread the Sufi message and to teach Islam. He had many disciples and blessings in his life. He was known to refuse help from the government in Nagore. He had a plot of land which he worked himself and earned his keep from. When offered another plot of land by the Hakim of the city he refused.

He passed on 18 January, 2017 (CE). Here we list his Urs date according to the Hijri calendar – 20 Rabbi ath Thani.
